'LSO Open Air Classics' review or 'How Nelson's Column wound its way into Berlioz' symphony'
I listened to the LSO and Gergiev play Berlioz' Symphonie fantastique in Trafalgar Square
It was pretty wonderful. Even the pigeons felt majestic.

A further note on the Symphonie fantastique. This piece is apparently one of countless attempts from Berlioz to bag his lady, Harriet Smithson. Berlioz spent five years stalking the poor woman and asking for her hand in marriage. Inspired by the playful atmosphere in Trafalgar Square, my guest and I drew a number of sketches reflecting this scenario.
